Airfield Operations
Overview: Day to day airfield functions and activities including air traffic control (ATC), control tower and general base operations are managed by Airfield Operations officers. Their responsibilities include extensive communication with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other agencies to ensure safety, flexibility and responsiveness of flight operations.

Specific Tasks:
- Develop plans, policies and procedures for operating airfield facilities and activities
- Maintain close liaison with FAA officials to coordinate changes affecting airfield operations
- Train, establish standards and conduct evaluations
- Perform and provide overisght of ATC and airfield operations using voice, data communication and radar systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; an undergraduate degree in Air and Space Operations Technology, Air Transportation, Business or Management is desirable
- Commission as an officer in the Air Force Reserve
- Physical qualification for Ground Based Control (Air Traffic Control) duty according to AF 48-123
Training:
- For those without a prior military service commission, successful completion of the eight-week Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, AL is required
