Bomber Combat Systems Officer
Overview: The B-52 Stratofortress bomber continues in operation after more than 60 years of service. Bomber Combat Systems Officers serve as navigators, electronic warfare officers (EWO) or weapons systems officers (WSO) on these remarkable aircraft.
Position: Officer
AFSC: 12BX
Specific Tasks:
- Review mission tasking, intelligence and weather information
- Navigate aircraft to accomplish assigned mission
- Ensure aircraft is pre-flighted, inspected, loaded, equipped and manned for mission
- Conduct training of crewmembers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; an undergraduate degree specializing in physical sciences, mathematics, administration or management is desirable
- Commission as an officer in the Air Force Reserve
- Eligibility for Top Secret security clearance
Training:
- For those without a prior military service commission, successful completion of the eight-week Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, AL is required
- Completion of Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Navigator Training (SUNT) or Undergraduate Combat Systems Officer Training
