Fire Protection
Overview: These are the firemen in the Air Force Reserve, who are fully trained in dealing with fuels, munitions and other hazardous materials found in military installations. As bases are also integral parts of local communities, Fire Protection personnel also coordinate extensively with local and regional fire departments.

Specific Tasks:
- Protect people, property and the environment from fires and disasters
- Provide fire protection and prevention guidance
- Execute and enforce Fire Department Occupation Safety and Health Program
- Operate fire alarm communications centers
- Conduct search and rescue operations and administer emergency first aid
Requirements:
- HS diploma or GED is mandatory. Completion of courses in chemistry, general science and mathematics is desirable.
- Possess a valid state driver's license to operate a government vehicle
- Normal color vision
- Meet physical standards of AFI-48-123 and National Fire Protection Association
- No record of pyrophobia, acrophobia or claustrophobia
- Ability to speak distinctly
- ASVAB score of 57 on General
- Eligibility for Secret security clearance
Training:
- Candidates without prior military experience are required to attend 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio-Lackland, TX; followed by Technical Training
