Medical Laboratory
Overview: An accurate medical diagnosis is often based upon the results of highly specific laboratory tests. Medical Laboratory personnel administer and analyze blood, urine and other body substance tests that are essential not only for diagnosis and treatment, but also in preventative and public health programs. In addition, these personnel also serve in the detection of bacteriological or chemical agents.

Specific Tasks:
- Perform and analyze blood tests, urinalysis and chemical analysis
- Perform blood bank duties including establishing donor-recipient compatibility
- Accomplish all techniques required for blood transfusion service
- Conduct bacteriological and chemical examination of food, water, dairy and sewage
- Assist in epidemiological investigations and detecting bacteriological agents
Requirements:
- Completion of high school or college courses in algebra, chemistry and biological sciences (e.g. anatomy and physiology, botany, general biology, microbiology, zoology, etc.) is mandatory
- Normal color vision
- ASVAB score of 62 on General
Training:
- Candidates without prior military experience are required to attend 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio-Lackland, TX; followed by Technical Training
