Mission Generation Vehicular Equipment Maintenance
Overview: Airfield vehicles come in many sizes and shapes, and their functions range from moving cargo, to grading roads to towing large aircraft. Highly trained maintenance personnel service these vehicles and gain valuable skills that translate easily to civilian careers.
Position: Enlisted
AFSC: 2T3X1
Specific Tasks:
- Perform vehicle maintenance on military and commercial design general and special purpose vehicles, including base maintenance, aircraft and equipment towing, cargo handling and heavy construction
- Repair, overhaul or replace major assemblies, including power and drive trains, fuel, emissions, brakes and steering
- Remove, disassemble and repair gasoline and diesel engines and components
- Adhere to established safety, environmental and hazardous waste disposal policies
Requirements:
- HS diploma or GED
- Normal color vision
- ASVAB score of 47 on Mechanical
- Possess a valid state driver’s license to operate government motor vehicles (GMV)
- Possess a valid state driver’s license to operate GMVs for “Maintenance Purposes Only”
Training:
- Candidates without prior military experience are required to attend 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio-Lackland, TX; followed by Technical Training
